Howdy again! I'm playing catch up on all my recent manis, dont' want them lost in the uncertain land of Instagram. I am so behind with my Tonics and its a shame! I have moved onto changing my nails most days. Superstar is so gorgeous and I especially love it matte.
- 2 coats with topcoats, shown in natural light.
- really good coverage, flakies lay down nicely
- no trouble with removal
- If this isn't currently available it's just in the vault for now don't worry, follow Tonic for restock updates.
SUPERSTAR
Shiro Cosmetics recently had a sale so I finally took the opportunity to snag a bunch of samples I've been eyeing. I'm super happy with my choices as well as the extras I received. I thought I would share my swatches/ comparisons and a few looks I've done so far. Everything is swatched with my finger over Femme Fatale's Shadow Magic Primer.
First we have from wrist down:
- Hut,Two,Three,Four! This is less vibrant than I expected but more so than these photos. the other shadows captured my camera's attention.
- Enormous Green Rage Monster. This along with the next 3 applied a little like they are pressure sensitive but I think its just that you can blend them out or pat for more shimmer.
- Jason Fanderburker
- Grow Home Dougles, You're Trunk. This is SO rich.
- Come Play With Me
Next we have:
- Colonel (discontinued)
- Eeny,Meeny,Miney,BURN!
- Foxglove: if only this were lip safe!

Onto neutrals! The first two look more similar in other swatches I've seen, skin-tone makes such a difference! I'm very happy to have both.
Wrist down:
- I am a Four Limbed Tree Cat. This is very close to Femme Fatale's Goldwater Island. If you missed that one definitely grab this!
- Gloves but each Finger is a Mitten. Insane sparkle in the sun!
- Song of the Puddle Siren
- He Who Must Not Be Named. So wierd and good.
Lastly orange and gold. This was my first set and i dont think my primer was smoothed out enough, excuse that first ugly swatch. I really love all of these and none are dupes. The last 2 were extras and i must say Shiro really gets me ;). Wrist down:
- I Choose....Sandwich!
- Normal Place, Normal People
- A Free Elf
- Ha.Ha.Ha.Ha.
- Ringing of The Bell. I actually removed this from my cart because of a comparison I saw to the previous one but on me they are more distinct. Or perhaps in person. Love them both!
- Sugarwork

Starlight and Sparkles Ghost Flakes and Unicorn Wishes |
Haaayyyyyyy OGUP! I'm excited to show you the upcoming group custom toppers! I'm not really a topper person, not sure why but I neglect them. This has reminded me not to do that. I loved seeing how these transformed over different base colors as well as finishes. I've been really feeling matte lately and I'm truly a shimmer girl. With the right polish anything can happen apparently, even becoming a topper user. Onto the review and details!
- Available only to members of OGUP at this time, excluding Obsidian. Sale details can be found there and varies if you are domestic or international.. Unicorn Wishes will return somewhere at a later time. Ghost Flakes is one time only. Both are limited to 300 bottles so be quick.
- Photos taken in natural light and sunlight except where noted. In general my LED light didn't do these justice and/or the photos were redundant.
- Neither of these are the red to green to gold shift but 2 different sibling pigments, also discontinued.
- Comes with the cute charms!
GHOST FLAKES
Ghost Flakes is a topper with flakes that shift from glowing blue to violet to near invisibility with shimmer that shifts the same. Fun fact,"unicorn pee" pigments were made in both flakes and shimmer forms and that's the case with these. The flakes and shimmer are actually made of the same substance. Issa notes that these flakes are larger and more irregularly shaped than the shimmer and thicker than those you may be familiar with such as those used in Essie's Shine of the Times, Inglot and Nfu-Oh's polishes. I didn't have any trouble with them nor did I notice that they are thicker. One coat of my regular topcoat did the trick nicely. This is so perfectly named. In some lights and angles this absolutely glows and at an angle the flakes can almost disappear, especially IN PHOTOS grrr. It creates a beautiful opal effect.. I did try sponging this onto one naked nail. The result was very pretty, you can create an almost solid layer of flakes that really looks like a jewel but shows your natural nail beneath, much like looking at it in the bottle. Unfortunately without latex cleanup was a bear, those flakes loooove to stick to the skin and my camera would NOT capture this beauty, it must be seen in person to be appreciated.

UNICORN WISHES
Unicorn Wishes is a combination color shifting shimmer and multichrome glitter topper. The shimmer is a "UP" sibling pigment that shifts from cool green, deep blue, flashes turquoise and indigo at extreme angles. The glitter shifts from teal green through blue, violet, purple and into fuschia. This is amazing matte, especially over grey and red, they really allow the shimmer to pop.

not sure why the pinky looks different, I think it's just the angle |

OBSIDIAN
Bonus shade! Obsidian is a cool black with a touch of shimmer that really adds to the complexity. Cool toned and a bit smoky, dries to a satin finish. Issa suggests using this under toppers to add dimension and I agree, plus it's pretty on it's own! I may wear black polish solo for the first time ever. Available now from Starlight.
- 2 thin coats, can be worn in one thick coat. Shown in its natural finish, no topcoat.
- Great formula, easy to control the amount and get full coverage.
- Good dry time, quick but not so fast you get ridges or overworking is a problem.
