A Polished Narcoleptic
New Releases! Most available once only. One More Green, Dear Prudence, Empressive, Old Masters.
PRESS SAMPLES

Hello and welcome! Any lovers of complex beauties out there? You've come to the right place. Today I have 4 new Lacquesters to show you and wow am I excited and grateful! This is my first time working with Caroline and she sent me a box of epic proportions so expect more reviews soon. I fell in love with SO many shades and as you know I am piiiiicky. It's possible the stroopwaffles she included had love potion on them though, I've developed a bit of an addiction.
3 of these are a somewhat limited release so pay attention! I took videos of each of these polishes to show the shifts and details, you can find them on my Instagram here.

* When? Jan 19th 3:30 pm EST

* Where? http://www.lacquester.com/

ONE MORE GREEN

I have to start with my favorite of the bunch. No surprise here huh? One More Green has a lush mountain green base, multichrome that shifts from red/orange/copper/green and holographic micro glitters. This is Mortal Coil's evil twin and I loooove her.

  • Available in Lacquester's shop Jan 19-31, after that exclusively from Russian stockist One More Polish.
  • Price: 9.25 euros, approximately $11.36 USD
  • 3 coats with topcoat, patchy at 1 coat, very close to opacity at 2. At 3 coats the polish was getting sticky around the lip of the bottle, some may prefer to add thinner.
  • Removal difficulty 3 of 5, one being a creme and 5 glitterbomb. Mild scrubbing or soak for a bit.
  • New style square bottle and brushes. The new bottles hold an extra ml, yay! Brushes fan out very nicely and are rounded at the edge. Caroline sent me replacement brushes for all my bottles so I cannot speak for the old brushes, it's possible you will receive old style bottles and brushes for some shades.
  • Despite appearing blue here, glitter is holographic.

DEAR PRUDENCE

Described as a black base with shifting pigments in red/gold/orange/copper and holographic finish, contains spectreflair. In most scenarios this appeared more brown to me. So...holo and brown...not my normal style but I really liked this! Very shifty and complex, check out my Instagram video. Link at beginning.

  • This will be available from Color4Nails at a later unspecified date.
  • 2 coats with topcoat, patchy at 1.
  • 2 of 5 removal difficulty due to tiny shards. Not hard but not like a creme.
  • Easy to use, not too thick or thin.
  • Price: 8.95 euros, approximately $10.95 USD.
  • New style bottle. Love these brushes.

This  is some artwork I did over Dear Prudence. One more Green is on my pinky and also under the ferns but you cant see it :/ Reverse stamping/decals done with Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Creative Shop plate 57. My topcoat smeared a little because I didn't think about floating it over decals.

The next 2 shades are prototypes and considered group customs. To purchase them you must join the Lacquester Lovers Facebook fan group and also make a shop membership. To do this see the pinned post once you join the group. There's lots of fun stuff in the group anyways, sneak peeks and swatches. There will be a few other group only items that I don't have.

EMPRESSIVE (PROTO 10)

I just love the name of this one. The purple shift suggests Empress while the expressive flakies and overall complexity are impressive. ;) Blue/purple base that shifts to orange/red with multichrome flakies and holographic finish.
  • 3 coats with topcoat, very easy to remove despite flakies. Sheer at one coat, builds up well.
  • Dried a bit slow but I may have done my coats too thick.
  • Not too runny or thick.
  • LIMITED number available, one time only unless more ingredients can be procured. make sure to expense interest on this in the group if you love it.

OLD MASTERS (PROTO 11)

Last but certainly not least is the beautiful neutral shade with a multichrome kick! A medium taupe/grey base with multichrome pigment that shifts through red, orange,to gold and a holographic finish. So classy and beautiful!
  • 3 cots with topcoat. Built up really well, I expected it to be sheer.
  • No running, pooling or pulling, applied flawlessly.
  • LIMITED availability, one time only. ( Must be a group member, see blurb above Empressive.)
  • Studs from Born Pretty Store. ( I think.)

Make sure to check out the shop to see what other goodies are currently available. While I haven't reviewed them yet I recommend Bahama Mama and Batteries Included, super pretty. OH! make sure to grab your Mortal Coil while you are at it if you are buying direct. There's a US group buy going on inside the Facebook group if you would like to save on shipping, however what you can buy is limited and you can pick others up later at Color4nails. Thank you for reading, let me know what you plan to get or if you have tried this brand before what your favorite polish is.

Indigo Bananas Winter 2017 Collection
PRESS SAMPLES

Hi there! Thank you for stopping by. Unicorn pee lovers rejoice! Thermal multichrome shimmers are here, and they are.amazing. These polishes are already available from Indigo Bananas, horray! This is such a fun and unique spin on popular U.P. colors and an addition of a gorgeous blackened teal. Andrea also sent me some of her new self care goodies, a salt bar and cuticle balm in the Karma scent, which I love. Onto the review! This post is very picture heavy, consider yourself warned. There are so many facets of these pretties to see.

NAIL ART
Reverse stamping using all 3 thermals, Femme Fatale Defiled in Gold, and Moyou London Explorer 03. Cold state, LED bulb.

Warm state

  • All 3 polishes have an easy to use formula, not too runny or thick. No shimmer streaks from drying too fast. They dry to a semi matte finish.
  • 3 coats with topcoat except where noted.
  • Natural light except where noted.
  • Videos of the thermal transition will be posted to my Instagram here.
  • $15 for 15ml, $9 for 8ml
  • Vegan, cruelty free, 3 free.

CHERRY PIE

My camera wanted to pull this polish too warm. I tried every single color setting and nothing was perfect. It's between a warm plummy purple and raspberry when cold, throw in the warm state and multichrome shimmer, my camera just wasn't having it.It is also appearing more muted on my computer screen. Cherry Pie also varies alot depending on the lighting. Indigo bananas describes this as a red rapsberry when warm to red purple when cold, filled with strong red/green multichrome shimmer. Shall we begin?

Ok, time for a little break to talk about this soap. I have been using it for approximately 3 weeks as my initial facial cleanse and I'm really enjoying it. I'm afraid to leave out my ph balancing second cleanse as this soap does contain coconut oil and my skin likes to make closed comodomes out of it. As it gets rinsed off I probably don't need to bother, but I do. The lather is so rich and silky, I love that. I adore the scent, spicy and earthy but it doesn't linger on my skin as I do a second cleanse. My beauty blender however, smells amazing. I need to try it in the shower! 6 lovely sounding scents are currently being offered along with wooden stands. My soap is not noticeably smaller, I think it will last quite a long time but I plan on trying the others scents when it does run out. Priced at $6.50 you really cant go wrong AND a batch of  Sugared Pumpkin is on sale. Hey,hey. Oh! This one in particular actally deposits some color into the lather but it doesn't stain washcloths or create any problems. This is the official description:

Handmade soap salt spa soap, for facial & hand use.  2.5oz or larger. Cured for at least six weeks. Salt soap is gentle on your skin and makes a rich silky lather, leaving your face & hands soft and clean yet not overly stripped. It is best for your face & hands - don't put it anywhere you wouldn't put salt!

Karma is a complex patchouli based scent. The fragrance is strong, stays on your skin, and is similar to the Lush type scent and our cuticle balm scent (fragrance stays consistent in soap).

Individual soaps may vary in pattern, but are the same color, fragrance and composition

DARK STAR

This one is my favorite because it's so unique. I didn't do any comparisons because nothing in my collection came close in my opinion. Not Ninja Mystic Glacier, Dreamland A Wedding Dress That's Not Bright Turquoise...you get the idea. I love both states equally and the way the pee looks in this one matte is love! Originally I did 2 coats of this but it wasn't opaque when warm. I included those photos though because it does look more teal with 2 coats. I would call this bright teal to blackened teal. Andrea describes it as blue-green/teal to dark blue/brown-black. Filled with multichrome shimmer of course.

Whew, are your eyes tired yet from looking at all that glorious shimmer? Let's take a moment to discuss the Karma hand and nail balm. This comes in 10ml for $5 and 20ml for $8 which is what I received. Guys,it is huge! I was really surprised at what a great size the big one is. The Karma scent is very nice and dissipates after a while, you would need to sniff your hand to smell it so it's not cloying. My favorite way to use the balm is to lock in oil and for swatches but it's a nice moisturizer on its own. Some scents are also lip safe. Official description:

"Karma" fragrance cuticle balm. This is a patchouli based fragrance, with strong notes of geranium, neroli, orange, rosewood.  Lush type.
Unless otherwise noted, Indigo Bananas cuticle balms contain fragrance oils that are not lip safe or edible. While ingredients may be lip safe, and the rest of the ingredients are edible, we could not determine definitively if the fragrance in this one is lip safe.
This balm is best used on your cuticles, skin around your nails, on your nails and UNDER your nails (helps nail flexibility and reduces peeling of the nail), but can also be used on your hand, and lip safe formulas are also edible.
Indigo Bananas cuticle balms are handmade and made from recipes developed in the IB labs, and are not repackaged from elsewhere. The recipe for the current cuticle balm was developed over a number of years and tested among multiple people, to be a quickly absorbed, non greasy cuticle balm that was skin softening. The ingredients in this include greasy and deeply penetrating butters, emollient (skin softening) butters, dryer oils, great occlusive (barrier forming) ingredients, oils with Vitamins A, B1, B2, C, E, lecithin, as well as ingredients that have anti inflammatory and wound healing effects.

BLUE ROSE

Last but not least we have Blue Rose, which is a lovely indigo blue to blurple shade with the same famous red to green shufty shimmer. mmhmm. While the 2 colors of this one have been created with U.P. this one has both which is cool and I didn't have a dupe. I did a comparison with my closest shade.

About me

Hello lovely readers and thank you for visiting my fledgling blog!
I found the indie community at a time my Narcolepsy was at its worst. Polish and makeup gave me something fun and low impact to do and pretty to look at. Pretty makes you feel a little better, ya know? Fast forward 3 years and I was frustrated with the lack of polish swatches available in various and natural light sources. I finally decided to try my hand at blogging and am dedicated to providing accurate swatches in as many light sources as possible. Additionally many indie brands do not provide makeup swatches on a persons face which I find very helpful. I currently post my makeup reviews and looks on Instagram but plan to start including them here too. I am not a writer, unless it's poetry so expect my posts to generally be to the point and full of photos. Oh yeah, about me. I am 26, coming up on my 6th wedding anniversary in a few months and am a fur mom to an adorable ferret who sleeps even more than me.
