Bee's Knees Wax Melts Release
PRESS SAMPLES
WAX RELEASE AND HOLIDAY SCENTS
DAY 11 of  12 DAYS OF DEALS
I received 5 of the 6 scents in wax and the last in scroap so I'll add my thoughts on that one too. These will be $4.50 regular price for 4oz. Don't forget about the free/discounted internationally/combined shipping running through the 12th! Deals start at 12pm EST. Bee's Knees recommends allowing 2 weeks cure time from the pour date for the best throw. (reach of the scent.) In order to complete this review before release I wasn't able to wait that time. These still have really good throw. I used one square each.

12 Days of Deals
Most of the deals are still in stock!
12/1-Wand Cores come back in capped amounts. Review of the ones I bought.
12/2-Release of  3 new HP polishes: Wampus Cat, Horned Serpent and Hidebehind
12/3-New Fantastic Beast themed scrub and bath bomb combo launch
12/4-Return of He's Adopted and Friend From Work
12/5-Release of 2 new Avengers themed polishes: What Did It Cost? and Everything  BLOG POST
12/6-Official launch of one coat multichromes found in event prototypes: Water Wolves  and Through the 4th and 5th Ribs   BLOG POST
12/7-Return of A Good Amount of Blood, Queen Bee, I Am Yours, Cursebreaker, Banshees Are In, Hermaeus Mora, Don't Make The Suit Animated, Bloo[d]oo, and maybe the Mittengard Wyrm
12/8-Mystery Bags-3 full sized polishes that can include a new mystery prototype Polish Pickup overpours, Fandom Flakies overpours, and retired, hard to find polishes. $25 each
12/9-Holiday scented scroaps launch!  REVIEW
12/10-Return of IT, I <3 Derry, S. S. Georgie, Ironworks, Loser/Lover, The Turtle and other Itversary colors
12/11-Wax launch! We have a bunch of holiday scented wax clamshells and a few staple scents
12/12-Cold Process Soap launch and flash sale of 15% off every order

Here I reviewed some previous scents and some will be included in the wax release such as Come Home Nell, The Bentneck Lady, and The Twin Thing.

NEVER FEED AFTER MIDNIGHT

gingersnap cookies combine with the decadent scent of s'mores and a touch of cool fall air.
This is mostly gingerbread to me but the cool fall air rounds it out nicely. Filled half of my house quickly, around 500 sq ft. This does not actually have any glitter, I failed to wipe it all out from the previous tart.

WHAT'S THIS?
a blend of freshly fallen snow, cinnamon, fir, and vanilla
I always love scents with "snow". No idea what actual scent that is (google says the presence of less odors) but it's very fresh and clean, almost laundry like. This one has really filled my house! I actually switched it off after a while because it was strong enough. That means it will last longer. :)
melt video

SANTA'S SLAY
equal parts cinnamon and cooling peppermint
This one is mostly cinnamon to me with something slightly herbal on cold sniff but warm both notes are noticeable and go together so nicely. Very strong throw, filled the whole house quickly, 1000+ sq ft, one floor.
melt video

THE PUMPKIN KING
warming combination of clove, cardamom, bourbon, and pumpkin
This filled half of my house quickly. Strong on pumpkin and cardamom.
melt video

CHEER OF FEAR
pepper and cinnamon mix with sweet vanilla and cherry tobacco
This is a mellow cherry on cold sniff and I love it. Warm it is very unique and somewhat odd but I still like it. Filled the whole house easily.

melt video

KRAMPUS CLAWS
-smells of everything spicy and gingerbread with a little added touch of sweet chai.
I recieved this in scroap form. It's a little more on the foody side than I usually enjoy but I love spices and all of these are foods heavily spiced so I actually do like it!

Bee's Knees Avengers duo
PRESS SAMPLES

Greetings earthlings! Bee's Knees Lacquer is having 12 days of releases, deals and sales! 12/5 brings the release of 2 new Avenger themed polishes. What's so cool about this 12 days is that shipping is free in the US and discounted elsewhere. Shipping will be held until the end of the 12 days and combined if you make more than one purchase.

WHAT DID IT COST?

Described as a murky mustard with magnetic multichrome microflakes that shift from green to pink.

The mustard isn't visible in the end result but lends opacity . This is super shifty and beautiful. I used different magnets for each nail. I bought a cheap set on AliExpress. The ring nail is the Masura stick magnet.

3 coats with topcoat, magnetized after each coat for 30-60 secs.

Clean up slightly difficult as the microflakes stick to skin. Easy to use viscosity

I took natural light photos but they didn't actually add anything, just as shifty in natural light.

$13

EVERYTHING

Described as a grape purple full of multichrome flakes that shift a rainbow of colors. I would describe this as Mardi Gras in a bottle. More opaque than the bright lights make it appear.

3 coats with topcoat. Flakes lay down nicely but do stick to skin somewhat. Good viscosity and dry time. Shown with glossy and matte topcoat.

Indigo Bananas color shifting shimmer and flakies polishes, various collections

NOT PRESS SAMPLES
I have been meaning to swatch and blog these forever! I mean it, It's been a year since I got some of these. Others I have had for a long time and have worn but it was long before I was blogging. These all contain color shifting shimmers and flakies, my favorite finish of nail polish. Some of these were purchased very early on in my discovery of indie polish and are still favorites, as Indigo Bananas is one of my favorite brands. It's shocking and infinately pleasing to me that these are all still available.

Twin Mani Challenge with NailPolishJunkie74

My nail gal and I have talked about doing a collab for a while, when we bought this same polish we knew it was time. We worked together to choose each element and I love how it came out.
Each year Baroness X does a limited edition box for Black Friday. Although I wanted the whole box I didn't have the funds but happily I was able to snag this pretty from overstock. The theme was "Cats In Space" which is so fun. Her boxes usually include a mix of polish and scented things for the bath and home plus fun extra goodies that match the theme. They make a great gift for you or someone else! I will link all the social media at the end of this post so you can snag a box this year or just check out all the currently available items. This shade is called "Live Long and Pawspurr". I find the name so amusing and adorable.  The polish is a regal plum jelly with color shifting shimmer that Demi refers to as pegasus pee. Check out Corri's Instagram for more of her mani!

  • 3 coats to opacity, topcoated
  • stamped with Masura The Diamond Planet (magnetic)
  • Moyou London Kaleidoscope 03 plate, 2 separate images
  • flakies sponged on randomly, Smitten Aqua Opal and ILNP Supernova

Phantasmal Collection

Starlight Polish is at it again! A new creature is being added to the Mythological family. Many will be cross posted in her shop as there are cross over polishes. Here's a little help understand which creatures coincide with which "unicorn pee or sibling". It's not too hard, Phoenix is red/gold/green, Dragon is green/gold, Kelpie is teal/violet, Unicorn is green to blue. Anything 'Song" includes holo. Chimera is a combination of the aforementioned 4 pigments. "Night" indicates a black jelly base and the Opal collection is flakie based in additional to the sibling creatures. Everything that is being added will include this new pigment/creature, Phantom. Join the fan group, we have charts.

This is a blue eye look I did a while back in the car. In general I find using dark or very bright shades above my crease challenging because my eyes are hooded and not symmetrically so. Getting a nice shape is the hard bit. However I had plenty of time to blend and in the end I loved this look.

Lids: Femme Fatale Cosmetics Soul Stone
Outer crease and lower lash: Notoriously Morbid Morgana
Inner lid and crease and middle lower lash: Femme Fatale Prismo
Inner eye, brow, and cheek bone highlight: Femme Fatale Starweave
lips: Colourpop Tootsie
I forget which blush.

POP Polish
Pastel  Multichrome Oil Slick Collection, half collection
PRESS SAMPLE

POP Polish generously sent me 4 of  8 Pastel Multichrome Oil Slicks and my goodness they are amazing! Part multichrome, part foil, part shimmer. In bright direct light the predominant shift/shimmer comes out against the pale background to create a metallic foil like look while shade and low light allow the myriad of shifts to come out to play.
I was also sent POP's topcoat, Liquid Glass. I am not used to wearing a non quick dry but I felt this did dry pretty fast! Very glossy and I actually had great wear with these. Guess all those people who say a normal dry has better wear may not be crazy after all, huh? hehe. I havn't had a chance to try it with any other brands but this is a good combo for my nails. I usually wear Vapid's quick dry and get great wear with that too but not other brands. I won't be replacing my quick dry as I'm often in a hurry but this is nice to have in the rotation.
UPDATE: this is, in fact a quick dry so color me impressed with wear!

Before I start my review here are some notes from the maker and my added blurbs:

  • The shimmer is more pronounced than in the original Oil Slicks. I agree with this based on photos and my knowledge of traditional multichrome polishes. Multichromes with a dark base usually show a very solid color shift and the actual shimmers aren't noticeable. The shimmers look larger here, perhaps because of the light backdrop but don't leave any streaks.
  • Shifts we aren't accustomed to seeing in multichromes appear such as grey and nude. Agree but it's so elusive on camera.
  • These need to be allowed to dry thoroughly to reach opacity, it's better to allow each coat to completely dry than add tons of coats. I took her word on this and didn't test it, I painted while watching tv and let each dry properly. I didn't reach full opacity on all of the shades with 3 coats. It was close though and I do have a very "loud" nail line, she wants to be noticed haha.
  • They seem to be darker toned in direct light which is the opposite of the original slicks. This I don't know about. I don't have any of the original slicks but I tend to think of the pastel base as "lighter" and the strong shifts as "darker" which would make the opposite true in my opinion but perhaps the shifts are actually just more colorful rather than darker. Except in sunlight, that does make the colors look more saturated but sadly didn't show it's face for all of these swatches.
  • Available to the general public starting August 10,2018 from POP's Etsy shop.
  • $16 each
Macros in natural light, from top left: Slick and Slide,
Surf Slick,Sand Slick, Watermelon Bubble Slick
Swatch details:
  •  In every swatch I used 3 coats of polish, 1 of POP Liquid Glass.
  •  Natural light sources in all photos, my artificial ones just didn't add anything to the story.
  • Dried fairly quickly to the touch, I gave at least 15 to 20 minutes for each coat to be sure. I was watching Netflix so...sometimes more.
  • No shimmer ridges or streaks, not too thick or thin.
  • Long brush, wide fan, I like it. Bottles are a little precarious.
  • No trouble with removal, simple like a creme but clean up was a bit more challenging than some because the super shimmer likes to stick to skin and side walls. My preferred method was to shower, then clean up if needed before photos. Not every swatch required clean up.
  • No photos show the true beauty of these, videos are closer but they really do need to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. I'll be posting videos to my Instagram and Facebook page and in the P.O.P Polish Fanatics Facebook fan group. Follow me to see them and join the group for tons more swatches and general fun!
  • My top picks: of the 4 I have Sand Slick and Watermelon Bubbleslick. Of the 4 I didn't receive Slick days of summer and Limeslickle.
SLICK N SLIDE
Primarily light purple and blue, shifts to magenta, grey and violet as well.  Not quite as light as these photos show, I had to adjust the tone with this one as my camera really over saturated it.
Opaque in 3 coats for me.

SURF SLICK
Mermaid tail in a bottle. That's an acceptable color description, right? lol, you see why I leave this up to makers usually. Green teal base, shifts darker teal, bright blue, azure, indigo and gold.
I used 3 coats but I think I could have used only 2.

SAND SLICK
Ok so the name of this one should have clued me in but I expected pinky mauve with golden, purple, blue and green shifts. That's all there but the predominant color is the lovely sandy gold. This polish is like a rainbow, so many colors, I bet it would look awesome layered over a mauve.
Still a little sheer on me with 3 coats. duncurr. Ha!

About me

Hello lovely readers and thank you for visiting my fledgling blog!
I found the indie community at a time my Narcolepsy was at its worst. Polish and makeup gave me something fun and low impact to do and pretty to look at. Pretty makes you feel a little better, ya know? Fast forward 3 years and I was frustrated with the lack of polish swatches available in various and natural light sources. I finally decided to try my hand at blogging and am dedicated to providing accurate swatches in as many light sources as possible. Additionally many indie brands do not provide makeup swatches on a persons face which I find very helpful. I currently post my makeup reviews and looks on Instagram but plan to start including them here too. I am not a writer, unless it's poetry so expect my posts to generally be to the point and full of photos. Oh yeah, about me. I am 26, coming up on my 6th wedding anniversary in a few months and am a fur mom to an adorable ferret who sleeps even more than me.
