A Polished Narcoleptic

Great news Indie world, Vapid Smokescreen is being restocked tomorrow!!!!! I was lucky to pick it up last year and sadly after that run there was a pigment shortage. I have no idea how long it will be around this time so don't doddle, this one is worth breaking a no buy for . I love it so much I needed to do a matching makeup look , using Looxi Beauty Moss as the base for my eyes and lips. Please keep scrolling to see it, this post is quite photo heavy, Smokescreen is so shifty!

  • 2 coats with topcoat
  • Great formula, no thickness, pooling, lumps.
  • Khaki green base, multi shifting shimmer ( red, deep orange, yellow, green ), tiny gold flakes.

Greeting fellow shimmer lovers! This beauty is kind of my polish Achilles heel. Greyed out base with a hint of color, bright blue shimmer......ahhhh. Illyrian Dazed is a muted mauve that looks grey in some lighting as the turquoise shimmer is very pronounced. Unfortunately I don't get great wear time with Illyrians, stinking body chemistry. However I had a little more success this time, we got past 24 hours. The messed up pinky was my fault. That doesn't stop me from buying ones I fall in love with and Illyrian remains in my top 5 brands. Only 2 to go.....

  • 3 coats with topcoat
  • Formula is a bit sticky and can create shimmer ridges as its so packed full of shimmer. it was opaque in 2 coats but I needed 3 to make it smooth and even.
  • Shimmer very apparent , even in low lighting.
  • In the past I have quickly swiped this with acetone to reveal more of the mauve base. Make sure it's very dry and sans topcoat if you try it. Wet cotton round and a light touch.

I believe this will be restocked by Illyrian ,Vanessa doesn't usually discontinue a color without a final announcement. There will be a restock in her shop this Friday. May 26th at 6 pm CST, and limited stock of older shades are to be included, perhaps this one will too!  I recommend being prompt, things do sell out quickly sometimes. You could also check with stockists, it's currently available from Femme Fatale Cosmetics and Harlow & Co., which I will link below along with other stockists and social media accounts to follow for updates or to beg for a restock. ;p Thanks for reading !

Hey guys, check it out, a polish that isn't Femme Fatale! haha. However this IS an Australian Indie AND another of my top five favorite brands, Emily de Molly. This is a bit of an oldie but goodie, its been in my collection for about a year and a half. EdM describes it as a medium sage green with strong red to gold duo-chrome shimmer.  In my opinion the shimmer looks pink to copper in this base color, which reminds me a lot of a Robin's egg. I received several compliments while wearing it. Best of all this polish is still available, I will include links at the bottom.

  • 2 coats with topcoat, dries a bit satin on its own
  • Easy to use formula, no "shimmer ridges"
  • The shimmer isn't very apparent in low light, although not a hidden shimmer. Sadly i didn't get a good low light photo.

Available from both the US and AU sites, along with stockists. Directly from EdM is usually the best price unless you have a special offer. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this polish . :)

Hello again to my dear sweet polish friends who are being supportive and reading my baby blog! :* It has been longer than I care to admit since I've been excited about a Femme from a regular release collection enough to purchase but I ended up loving this more than expected. Femme Fatale describes it as having a sheer/crelly purple base with turquoise sheen, silver and lavender holographic glitters ,and yellow-green iridescent glitters. Whew, that was a handful, thank goodness someone else writes polish descriptions, it is not my strong point. This is considered a glitter topper and Femme warns that it will not be opaque without the sponging method. I tried that, big fail for me. All I could see was a ton of holographic glitter and that ruined the beautiful ethereal quality for me.

  • 3 coats, visible nail line really isn't noticeable or bothersome in person because of the abundant shimmer, the camera accentuates it.
  • Quite textured, I used a coat of Gelous before my topcoat.
  • Dries quickly, easy to use formula.
  • Cleanup is a bit rough, so many tiny glitters. Hand washing was required.
  • Super apparent shimmer, noticeable in all types of lighting.

Femme Fatale has been one of my top favorite brands for 2 years now, and this been a lemming just as long.I'm so glad I finally had the chance to purchase it. It's everything I wished Megara had been. The warm /pink shade of that one was just too bubblegum for me but this is perfect, very bright in natural light.
Femme Fatale describes Twilight Sorcery as a warm purple (cold) to fuschia-red (warm) thermal with slight copper shimmer. Slight my butt, that shimmer is amazing !

  • 2 coats with topcoat , I use HK girl by Glisten N Glow
  • dried very quickly as usual for Femme Fatale
  • smooth ,easy to use consistency
  • very sensitive thermal, lots of change throughout the day

Personally I find the desk light/ daylight bulb photos to be the most color accurate, the polish is very rich and vibrant, the warm state is super bright in sunlight, which my phone refused to capture. This was a one time re-release, if you must have it keep your eyes peeled in Facebook destash groups or come and do my housework and I'll let you borrow it. ;)

This is my first blog post ever, thank you for reading a feel free to leave suggestions in the comment.

About me

Hello lovely readers and thank you for visiting my fledgling blog!
I found the indie community at a time my Narcolepsy was at its worst. Polish and makeup gave me something fun and low impact to do and pretty to look at. Pretty makes you feel a little better, ya know? Fast forward 3 years and I was frustrated with the lack of polish swatches available in various and natural light sources. I finally decided to try my hand at blogging and am dedicated to providing accurate swatches in as many light sources as possible. Additionally many indie brands do not provide makeup swatches on a persons face which I find very helpful. I currently post my makeup reviews and looks on Instagram but plan to start including them here too. I am not a writer, unless it's poetry so expect my posts to generally be to the point and full of photos. Oh yeah, about me. I am 26, coming up on my 6th wedding anniversary in a few months and am a fur mom to an adorable ferret who sleeps even more than me.
