The Small Science, shown in various light sources with matte topcoat.

Are you ready for September's Polish Pickup? It opens this Friday! As a maker I sat this one out and I'm so glad I did, been incredibly busy with a new job. As a customer I'm a bit overwhelmed with how many things I want and no sales to help cover it 🙃. The theme is magic and alchemy and so many truly magical things have been created, the makers knocked this one out of the park. Bee's Knees will be offering 2 awesome purple items and has sent them to me for review. Yal know I love my purple.

PRESS SAMPLES

For Bee's Knees 2nd anniversary they have created a new IT themed collection and have sent it to me for review! Also available are Bioshock mystery bag overpours, new mystery bags, new scents for scroaps and meringues, and a huge sale on all old polishes and bath and body products. Everything that won't be new to the site will be 20% off. The site goes live at noon on 9/1 and the sale will last through 9/7. ( I'm clearly late.) I love the scroaps(whipped soap/sugar scrub combo), meringues (whipped soap), aloe lotion, bath bombs/crumbles and wax melts! BKL lip balms are my favorite indie formula. I've yet to try any bar soap. As far as sale polishes I have to recommend some of my favorites in stock: White River Monster Spine, Rougarou Hair, Chesapeake Chessie, Necromorph Nude, Songbird Cinnamon, and Thunderbird Feather.

Bee's Knees August IPU Pop Pop Pop
PRESS SAMPLES
Bee's Knees has sent me their indie item for the upcoming Polish Pickup. Pop pop pop, a highly pigmented deep red lip balm that applies matte and scented to smell like kettlecorn. Inspired by Pennywise. This will be $5 and can be worn fully opaque or sheer. I love BKL's lip balm formula. It feels smoothing and protective but not waxy, sticky, or heavy. Long lasting and moisturizing. When I found out this was going to be popcorn scented I was scared because I normally despise that scent in products. (Along with bubbegum ans chocolate, I'm weird.) I am pleasantly surprised though, the scent is light and sweetened because of the kettle bit so I don't mind it and after a few minutes I don't notice anything at all.

August's Polish Pickup theme is At The Carnival and Bee's Knees has created this gorgeous shimmer/multichrome, Find Yourself is inspired by the carnival scene at the beginning of Us Described as: a sandy tan polish with glowing green to purple/pink shimmer. (I see blue in there too.) Personally I'd cal this color cantaloupe. It will be $12 with no cap.

I've used 3 coats with glossy and matte topcoats in natural and artificial T5 full spectrum lights. This could be opaque at 2 coats if you have a less aggressive free edge. Their rounded brushes are my favorite. Easy to use formula, removes like a creme. The shimmer is prominent and may show lines so apply it in straight strokes, as few as possible.

Bee's Knees Tinted Lipbalms

PRESS SAMPLES

Bee's Knees has come out with new lip balms and I'm here for it! I absolutely love the formula and new shades are certainly welcome in my collection. Slightly firm to apply, they last for hours even through eating and drinking. It feels moisturizing and protective without being heavy or waxy. These add a pop of color which is really nice and smell amazing. $5 for tinted and $3.50 for clear.

Creamsicle- tinted with a bronze shimmer, this lip balm smells like the classic summer treat with orange sherbet and vanilla.

Cola Coke-tinted a pinky coral, this lip balm smells like the classic southern dessert that combines cola and chocolate cake.

Pastel Multichromes Comparison

By request I have done a quick and dirty comparison of 4 POP Pastel Slicks with the 4 new Bee's Knees Pastel Multichromes. 3 coats of everything, no topcoats, no base, no clean up or edits. Don't looks too close, my cuticles are looking a bit scary. Natural lighting and T5 full spectrum. Honestly I don't think any are really dupes especially since POP is alot more "sparkly" and BKL are smooth.

Notoriously Morbid's Ritual of Moons pallet

Notoriously Morbid has created this beautiful pallet full of 12 shimmers and duochromes. Created and pressed in house, all shades are currently exclusive to the pallet. It retails for $45 but hasn't been excluded from sales and discounts. I've swatched it with my fingers on my bare arm. Creamy, pigmented, easy to blend. I resisted this at first but got it on impulse with a gift certificate I received as a gift.

  • New scents in wax and bath products.

This month Bee's Knees is releasing 4 new multichromes inspired by some of their favorite Marvel characters. There will also be waxes in new shapes and scents (I received 2) and a new bath product. Sarah says "These use a new multichrome pigment which I think gives the polishes a little bit of extra sparkle. Bee's Knees Lacquer, May '19 PPU, Sometimes Dead Is Better, polish and wax

PRESS SAMPLES
Sent in exchange for my honest review.

May's Polish Pickup is almost here! The theme is I love the 80's and Sarah of Bee's Knees Lacquer has chosen Pet Semetary as her inspiration for both her polish and wax. The result is a beautiful medium gray polish with an eerie gold to green sibling unicorn pee (sought after small particle shifty pigment) shimmer and ghost flakes (iridescent/translucent) that shift green to blue and red to green. Y'all know I love grey polish and have a love affair with iridescent flakies so naturally I love this polish. First of all I must apologize. As a blogger I have failed you. I thought I wrote down how many coats I used but alas, I did not. It's either 2 or 3. The formula was great to use as usual, not too thick or thin. The consistency is easy to apply as it stays where you put it but doesn't dry so fast that it gets overworked and pulls. The flakies lay down easily on their own. Scroll down to the wax photos for my review of that. :)

Bee's Knees Polish Con NOLA Spring 2019

PRESS SAMPLES, available at the event and online at some
later date. Sent in exchange for my honest review.
Bee's Knees has made 3 very cool polishes for Polish Con NOLA (New Orleans) inspired by local urban legends which I think is really fun. These will be available at the actual event even though Bee's Knees won't actually be attending and online at the Bee's Knees shop at some point afterward. I loved all three but I think The Grunch is probably my favorite, I love aquas. Polish Con will be on April 6 and you can find all the event details at their website including tickets, a vendor list, hotels and more.

Bee's Knees Little Moth, April 2019 PPU

T5 bulbs
PRESS SAMPLE

The theme for the April Polish Pickup is Famous Works of Art and Bee's Knees has created her own based on Sander Cohen's Miasma from the Bioshock Games. The official description is a dusty blue polish with a glowing shimmer that shifts from red to gold to green (not UP but still amazing). This was very opaque and I only used 2 coats! It's so beautiful I couldn't stop taking photos, there's a lovely bronze shift in there too. I know I always say this buy flawless formula. The viscosity is not too thick or thin, good dry time, removes like a creme and the rounded brush makes application a breeze. Dries to a shiny finish. This will be available for pre-order from Polish Pickup April 5-8th with no cap or bottle limit for $13.

Bee's Knees Basilisk Horn

Bee's Knees Lacquer Basilisk Horn and undies.
Middle nail: 3 coats with glossy topcoat, all others one coat of the creme "undie", 2 of Basilisk Horn with glossy topcoat. Naturally dries to a glossy finish. I didn't notice the visible nail line in person, the bright light does highlight it. Perhaps I should have allowed more dry time. Nice formula, sheer but buildable. Not too thick or thin, no pulling or flooding cuticles, removes like a creme. This is the Wand Core that I wanted in the beginning but had to thin my order. I'm glad I had another chance to get it! Photos taken in T5 full spectrum bulbs.

natural light

For this month's Hella Handmade Creations Bee's Knees is continuing her Rick and Morty theme with Solenya, inspired by the pickle man, this is a dark pickle green polish with red shimmer and a whole bunch of flakes that shift all kinds of colors. This is truly the perfect pickle polish! It will be $13 with no cap or limit on sales. I used 2 coats with various topcoats. Great formula, very opaque, flakies lay down smoothly with no manipulation. Easy to apply, I love the rounded brush, it allows me to get nice and close to the cuticle and the viscosity is good, not too thick or thin as to cause running or pooling.
HHC is a monthly sale that various brands participate for a set amount of months and make polishes according to a theme of their own choosing. This is most certainly a pre-order so expect to wait several weeks- a month for your order. I've included a handy image from the HHC site that explains the sale further. You can order anytime between March 14-21st.

About me

Hello lovely readers and thank you for visiting my fledgling blog!
I found the indie community at a time my Narcolepsy was at its worst. Polish and makeup gave me something fun and low impact to do and pretty to look at. Pretty makes you feel a little better, ya know? Fast forward 3 years and I was frustrated with the lack of polish swatches available in various and natural light sources. I finally decided to try my hand at blogging and am dedicated to providing accurate swatches in as many light sources as possible. Additionally many indie brands do not provide makeup swatches on a persons face which I find very helpful. I currently post my makeup reviews and looks on Instagram but plan to start including them here too. I am not a writer, unless it's poetry so expect my posts to generally be to the point and full of photos. Oh yeah, about me. I am 26, coming up on my 6th wedding anniversary in a few months and am a fur mom to an adorable ferret who sleeps even more than me.
