LACQUESTER U.P. POLISHES

Macros in artificial light
PRESS SAMPLES
This post has been a long time coming! Caroline of Lacquester sent me the most amazing swatch box and it has taken a while to get through everything. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to work with her and review these beautiful limited polishes for you. Sadly as of right now these are not available but keep your eye on Lacquester for more stunning and unique polishes. As sad as it is these are not available there's still something to be learned here. Caroline does not skimp on unicorn pee! They are worth flexing your Ninja fingers for.

CHAI LOVE

This is a soothing cafe au lait base with magical colorshifting unicorn pee shimmer. (Red to gold/orange to green.) I really enjoy this name as the base is like creamy frothed chai and the shimmer reminds me of the spices you see on top of the foam. The red was camera shy but I assure you it's there. Second favorite of the bunch. Great neutral with a kick. I am impressed with the opacity here.
  • 3 coats with topcoat
  • self levels well, easy removal.
  • by the third coat the polish was getting sticky. Close between coats or add a smidgen of thinner.

NORA

Nora is a classic beauty, ladylike but never a bore! Her nails and lips always match. ;) The vintage rose base looks so nice with u.p.

  • 3 coats with topcoat
  • self levels well, easy removal.
  • by the third coat the polish was getting sticky. Close between coats or add a smidgen of thinner. I prefer this to a runny or sheer formula.

    EXTREMALISTA AND (H)

Extremalista and Extremalista Holo were gifts from Caroline for her team. I feel so special and honored! Lovely warm purple bases with the addition of u.p. and holo in (H). There's a reason purple is such a popular unicorn pee base, it
just allows all the yummy shifts to take center stage. The addition of holo cools (H) down significantly.
    • 3 coats each with topcoat
    • nice formula, stays where you put it, not too thick or thin.
    • vnl was visible in person but not as pronounced. I didn't mind it.

    MOODY WATERS

There has never been a polish so suitably named. Described as a dark grey/taupe/blue green base filled with colorshifting unicorn pee pigment. I don't think I could have commissioned a custom that I would love more. It's all the colors of the ever changing sea and the u.p. mimics how the sunlight plays off the water.
    • 3 coats with topcoat
    • self levels well, easy removal
    • by the third coat the polish was getting sticky. Close between coats or add a smidgen of thinner
    • this one has some stray tiny holographic glitters

    FALL IN A BOTTLE

Caroline described this a dark red/ maroon base but on me it's more of a juicy apple red. I enjoyed it more than I expected as I'm not usually a red girl. Soooo pretty. Unicorn pee of course.

    • 4 coats with topcoat. I don't usually do 4 but it was so close.
    • some unmixed pigment flating around.
    • rough spot on ring finger is actually on my nail.
    • sheer and a bit patchy but otherwise good formula not too thick or thin. I'm considering this one a jelly. Opaque at 3 coats in most swatches I saw however I have an obstinant nail line.

Which one of these shifty beauties is your favorite? I think it's obvious that I'm smitten with Moody Waters but Chai Love is stunning as well. They are all beautiful but those two are the most my style. Hygge anyone? :) Will you be searching for these in destashes or perhaps swaps? I recently found a rare polish I wanted by swapping so it's possible! Let me know in the comments. I hope you enjoyed this post!

    About me

Hello lovely readers and thank you for visiting my fledgling blog!
I found the indie community at a time my Narcolepsy was at its worst. Polish and makeup gave me something fun and low impact to do and pretty to look at. Pretty makes you feel a little better, ya know? Fast forward 3 years and I was frustrated with the lack of polish swatches available in various and natural light sources. I finally decided to try my hand at blogging and am dedicated to providing accurate swatches in as many light sources as possible. Additionally many indie brands do not provide makeup swatches on a persons face which I find very helpful. I currently post my makeup reviews and looks on Instagram but plan to start including them here too. I am not a writer, unless it's poetry so expect my posts to generally be to the point and full of photos. Oh yeah, about me. I am 26, coming up on my 6th wedding anniversary in a few months and am a fur mom to an adorable ferret who sleeps even more than me.
