A Polished Narcoleptic
Femme Fatale Cosmetics Enchanted Fables: Locations

Mid-transition, done with blow drier.

Cold state
Hello friends! It's been a long time I've written a proper polish blog post. Well, long time since I've purchased polish but I can never resist a few from Femme Fatale's annual Enchanted Fables Collection. Things have been crazy due to Covid 19 so please forgive some of my lack of details. I totally forgot to take videos of any but the first one I wore. My buddy Samantha and I decided to order together and "share custody" which meant I used them all, sent to her so she can do the same and then the ones I purchased will be sent back to me.        (Neverland, Witch's Garden, Candy Cottage.) When I wore Winter's Quarters I went to the grocery store wearing a mask and gloves so you can guess how that went, all peeled off. Thankfully Samantha has sent me her photos and thoughts about it. My photos are taken in natural light and full spectrum bulbs that I bought for my succulents, besides the bulb glare they are remarkably like the sun.

I decided to put on some makeup to celebrate our 8th anniversary. We picked up gyros and treats, ate in our car by the river then went for a drive. Totally fine for introverts haha.#QuarantineAnniversary

Murder in the Bone Yard
photo taken in full spectrum lighting

This is Lacquester Screaming Brownie Murder. When I first saw the name of this polish I thought of Smurfs for some reason. Then I thought of a murder of a brownie from the Fae folk. It took getting this polish in my hands for the pun on bloody murder to dawn on me. How funny is that? My brain yal, I amused myself with how oblivious I can be.
This dark brown with electric blue shimmer is still currently available. I used 2 coats with topcoat. I love how if you look closely this isn't a smooth shimmer, there are some slightly larger particles that really add some interest and sparkle but have zero texture. You can probably see that better in this video. Love the brushes and the formula, very easy to work with.

I couldn't resist how well these photos looked beside the ones of  Notoriously Morbid's bath bomb in my camera reel. With a name like Bone Yard and being coffin shaped, I just felt like they belonged together here. This product is also still available. I DO surprise you sometimes, right? I used half the bomb here. I will link a photo of the bomb itself and a video. This is one of my favorite bombs from NM to date and of the ones still available. Here's the scent description: Orange Peel, Peppercorn, Apple,Vanilla,Tonka Bean, and Tobacco. I also love Dreadful Echo.

This look is from several months ago and I was clearly not having a good time with my skin. These products are all beautiful though despite that and my imperfect application. Can you tell I'm not sure about this look? I no longer wear foundation (tinted moisturizer and some concealer) and when my skin acts up old insecurities rise to the surface and I tend to think bold makeup emphasizes it. Be quiet wicked heart!
Notoriously Morbid Great Chemistry on lids and lower lash line
NM Borden highlighter on brow bone, inner corner, and cheekbones

Lacquester polish BbRlOuWeN, Blue in Brown
Jewelry by Sarah Briggs, here's a 20% discount code.

I sent a photo of my mani to Caroline and she mentioned that I probably had a matching eyeshadow. I loved that idea and OF COURSE I did.

This is 2 coats of Blue in Brown with topcoat. Easy to use formula, nice viscosity and opacity. In bright direct light you see mostly blue shimmer, in indirect the taupe base comes through. This is a great neutral with a twist. Video here.

These photos are taken in front of my full spectrum bulbs in a room lit by natural light.

fully cold on left, almost fully warm on right. Full spectrum T5 bulbs.
This gorgeous and reactive thermal is Don Deeva Franky Stein. I sadly missed it when it was released but I wrote to customer service and Danette happened to have one lying around! That one was lost in transit so Danette worked some magic and got one for a team member for me. THEN she also sent me 2 other beautiful polishes! One of these things is great customer service, but all of them? I would have understood it was lost. Color me impressed. This is 2 coats with topcoat. It was described as dusty mauve that transitions to a sage green to mint green, filled with green to gold unicorn pee.

About me

Hello lovely readers and thank you for visiting my fledgling blog!
I found the indie community at a time my Narcolepsy was at its worst. Polish and makeup gave me something fun and low impact to do and pretty to look at. Pretty makes you feel a little better, ya know? Fast forward 3 years and I was frustrated with the lack of polish swatches available in various and natural light sources. I finally decided to try my hand at blogging and am dedicated to providing accurate swatches in as many light sources as possible. Additionally many indie brands do not provide makeup swatches on a persons face which I find very helpful. I currently post my makeup reviews and looks on Instagram but plan to start including them here too. I am not a writer, unless it's poetry so expect my posts to generally be to the point and full of photos. Oh yeah, about me. I am 26, coming up on my 6th wedding anniversary in a few months and am a fur mom to an adorable ferret who sleeps even more than me.
